A GOOD DAY IN THE STUDIO

Had a good day in the studio, after many months of work I have finished this piece.

It is based on a area near home.

From photo to painting

This is the kind of sky that inspires me. Nature is stunning.

I live quite near the sea in sussex and these sunsets are truly extraordinary
And later I can paint the image.

It may be that I will use this sky and another image of land or sea from a different photo.

Charity open art competition 09

At the moment I am organizing a new and exciting ‘Open Art Competition’ for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in association with Pallant House Gallery

The competition was launched in September 08 and will have three categories, professional, amateur and under 18 categories.

The idea will follow the lines of most open art competition and it is hoped that it will bring much-needed funds for St Wilfrid’s but also awareness to a greater audience.

St Wilfrid’s Hospice needs £4.3 million a year to run and the government only contribute 10%.

We have a distinguished panel of judges including Wayne Hemmingway, Jean Jackson, Stefan Van Raay, and Jack Vettriano. They will select a first, second and third and up to 30 ‘highly commended’ these will make up an exhibition at the prestigious Pallant House Studio Gallery as the prize.

All entries must be received by no later than 28th February 2009 (the “Closing Date”) and the exhibition will run from 28th april – 24th may 09

Entrants may submit one image each of up to 3 pieces of work. £20.00 per image. (£10 per image for under 18) All images to go on a CD, there will be size restrictions for the winning artwork its self of 80cm at it largest point. It is important to read all the full terms and conditions.

Submission forms and full terms and conditions are available on request from St Wilfrid's Hospice (tel 01243 775302),
All forms can be downloaded from the website
