LORENZO QUINN

I have just had time to catch up with newspapers, in particular The Times and found a wonderful supplement 'raconteur on art and architecture'...
flicking through I found these amazing pictures of mouthwatering sculptures by LORENZO QUINN, 'Give and Take 111' will be in Berkeley Sq, London.

He is, not surprisingly, an incredibly handsome man, also mouthwatering, just like his father actor ANTHONY QUINN.

He has an exhibition, EQUILIBRIUM, a major solo show, which opens November 18th until January 31st 2010 at the HALCYON GALLERY, BRUTON ST W1J 6QQ.

Its worth checking him out on line if you can't get to the gallery, his pieces are fantastic, the stuff dreams are made of.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU, interview with ACTRESS CAROLINE HARKER

THIS INTERVIEW IS WITH THE ACTRESS CAROLINE HARKER,

Caroline has appeared in many TV series including Midsummer Murders, Foyles War, Doctors the list is too long to put here, she is probably best known for her role of Hazel Wallace in 'Touch of Frost'.

She has also worked a lot in the theatre. Her partner, actor Anthony Calf, they have two daughters. Her sister, Susannah Harker, her mun Polly Adams and father Richard Owens are all in the profession.

AT I’m love black and white movies. Do you have a favorite genre of film, maybe horror or Film Noir, comedy or documentary?
CH
Indie European films in particular French. American (Sideways and Little Miss Sunshine genre) NO Harry Potter and NO films with Ben Stiller, Jenifer Aniston or Jim Carey

AT What was the last thing you read?
CH
Shame on you by Clara Salaman, I was at drama school with Clara and she’s a friend. The book is an autobiographical novel about Clara’s schooling in a cult like organization that she calls The funny farm – it is engaging, surprising, shocking , original and brave… it s caused a lot of controversy amongst her family and friends and a lot of interest in the press. A blistering first novel in my opinion.

AT What’s your favorite comedy TV programme, present or past?
CH
Robins Nest. It made me feel entirely happy

AT Which do you find more rewarding acting on stage or screen?
CH
Screen. Satisfying to go home at end of day leaving a tin labeled ‘a days work ‘

AT Although the news is generally all doom and gloom at the moment, what do you feel is man’s greatest accomplishment, so far?
CH
To have remained basically humane. For non murderers to out number murderers

AT Swim in the sea or pool?
CH
Pool. Less to nip you.

AT If you could only take one bottle of good wine on a desert island which would it be, red or white?
CH
Red. Medicinal isn 't it?

AT Chocolate or fudge?
CH
Chocolate all the way

AT What would say is your most annoying habit?
CH
Putting myself down, I m being funny but people think I need therapy

AT Beatles or Santana?
CH
Beatles, who’se Santana?

AT What would your 'bucket list' include? name 4 or 5 things you simply have to do before......!
CH
Get married. Write a novel. Learn to garden. Create a masterpiece. Read every book I own.

AT What's your signature dish in the kitchen, beans on toast or the Sunday Roast?
CH
Sunday roast. Jamie Olivers slow cooked, over night in fact, shoulder of pork, with vegetable mash, white beans and spring greens. This food is so delicious it s worthy of a round of applause, and you just do what J .O tells you….

AT ice cream or summer pudding?
CH
Summer pudding with blob of ice cold clotted cream.

GREETINGS CARDS IN ON-LINE SHOP

I NOW HAVE GREETINGS CARDS FOR SALE ON MY WEB SITE

all very exciting, a new adventure, have a look at my web site for full details and the images.

teenage cancer trust postcard auction

Hello all, have been away from the old blogger, have been really busy with 'stuff' one of the bits of stuff is:

I have been asked to do a small, post card size 'pic' for TEENAGE CANCER TRUST.

On Friday 8th August, a Postcard Auction is being held at Margate Harbour Arm Gallery in aid of Nicole’s Fund. Nicole’s Fund hopes to raise £50,000 to go towards building a Teenage Cancer Trust Unit at The Royal Marsden Hospital. Nicole is a really special young lady, who at the age of 11 was diagnosed with cancer. She has survived two relapses and a stroke that has left her wheelchair bound, blind and almost completely deaf. Nicole was treated at the Royal Marsden on many occasions and she would love to have benefited from treatment in a Teenage Cancer Trust unit.

I have asked several of our local artist to help too. Chris May has already done his and sent it to me.( see image) Other artists already on board include Tracey Emin, Timothy Spall
and Brenda Blethyn.

The 'Open Art Competition' for St Wilfrid's Hospice held at Pallant House Gallery.

"we are delighted to announce the total raised for St Wilfrid's Hospice is £6805.75, a big thank you to all involved in raising this amazing amount." plus in access of £700 went to 'Outside In' which was set up in 2006 to offer opportunity to artists who are marginalized either due to health, disability or whose work doesn't fit a prescribed art norm. It is housed Pallant House Gallery.

It is intended that this will become a yearly event, the partnership of St Wilfrid's Hospice and Pallant House Gallery, two Chichester based charities, has proven to be a huge success, we are sorting out next years dates with the gallery.

It has been such a warm and wonderful event to run, everyone has been so supportive.

BUSY WEEKS

It has been a couple of very busy weeks, the St Wilfrid's Hospice Open Art Comp exhibition at Pallant House has been well received, great feed back and lots of sales, it finishes on May 24th so if you haven't seen it do pop along.

I have also been on a cleaning frenzy... my studio has been such a mess, I am not precious about it being the cleanest place on earth but it really had got very bad, half the problem is my lovely dog Lola, she likes to sit at my feet or under them, I have had many near falls! but her passion is to chew all her fav toys so the floor gets littered with lumps of bright red, turquoise or yellow rubber or worse, her long black hair mixed in with fluffy remnants of fabric, once loved toys, I do admit to getting the hoover out.

I also spent many happy hours sorting through my art books, I got completely fired up with inspiration.

And I had my camera out and about this week.

Friday 1 May 2009

From photo to painting

This is the kind of sky that inspires me. Nature is stunning.

I live quite near the sea in sussex and these sunsets are truly extraordinary
And later I can paint the image.

It may be that I will use this sky and another image of land or sea from a different photo.
